Which guitar is right for me?

I just started playing guitar a lil while back and the little Squier Strat that i have doesn't exactly give me the sound i would want to hear. I want that sound that i hear in punk rock from Silverstein, A Day to Remember and Rise Against or metal music from Bullet For My Valentine, Underoath, As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada and for those of you who have heard of Gwen Stacy, i love them! I wouldn't mind having that heavier sound that you find in Children of Bodom or August Burns Red, either. Does anyone have any suggestions for the guitars that i should be looking for?
